Risoul

Spent sometime watching a couple of freestyle competitions accompanied by some rather thumping music that you just had to move along to. There where some spectacular manouveres on skis and boards by all these very cool looking blokes in their gear- then they took their ski masks off!
We hit the slopes for a day, literally, even Ian. He spent the day on snowblades for the first time and flipped over quite spectacularly on some moguls. A little later on, on an easy bit I lost it and nearly ended up in the mountain restaurant a little prematurely for lunch. Apart from these little brushes the skiing was great, loads of really good runs with little ice and stunning scenery. At 9pm we went off to the sledging slope with a couple of skid lids hoping all the kids had gone to bed, a few remained, luckily they were quick to get out of our way as we shot down the bumpy slope and ended up in the barriers at the bottom upside down. After several runs Ian’s coccyx could take no more and his skid lid had cracked ,though to be fair they were not designed for 13 stone forty somethings. Covered in snow we returned to the van, that night it hit minus 17 and Ian had to run out at 2am to change the gaz as it was freezing up again. The following morning we developed an oil leak, the screen wash pump packed in the other week after a big freeze so a trip to the garage is in order.
